About Us

The Flag Lady Story in 90 Seconds We HONOR what makes us different as much as what unites us. We INVITE you to come as you are and express yourself as you want. We BELIEVE that love is our common thread. We PROMISE to find you a flag that tells your story. Every FLAG tells a STORY. Let us help tell YOURS. For over 40 years, The Flag Lady has been helping people honor seasons of joy, moments of reverence, and life’s most important milestones. Flags can share a passion, show pride, or start a conversation. And they are a beautiful, time-honored way to show unity among people. Our flags are more than works of art...they’re works of heart. We celebrate what makes us different as much as what unites us, and we believe that love is our common thread. Our mission is to lift every voice with a flag that speaks to the spirit. Here at The Flag Lady, we invite you to come as you are and express yourself as you want. Whether it’s a cause, a commemoration, or a custom design, we want to help you find a flag that you’re proud to wave. 1977 - Mary Haley Leavitt given a vision of "God & Country" on her farm in Mt. Vernon, Ohio Mary sold the American flag going door-to-door. First on her lunch break as a legal secretary, then expanding to a home business in the mid-to-late 1980s. 1989 the business took up too much of the home and so Mary opened up her first store in 1989 in the Clintonville area of Columbus, Ohio. It moved in the early 1990s to its current location (archived photos of storefront shown) 1993 - Current owner, Lori Leavitt Watson, joins the family business to expand the manufacturing division of the company. By the early 2000s, The Flag Lady became one of the largest flag companies in the country. In 2017, 40 years after God gave her the original vision for the Flag Lady, Mary retired and sold the business to the second generation Flag Lady, Lori Leavitt Watson. Since 2017, Lori has taken the solid foundations that the business was built up: high quality products, excellent customer service, and timely deliveries, and updated the company with fresh branding and messaging to prepare it for further expansion in manufacturing and sales capabilities to serve both our residential and corporate customers even better than before. Please see our custom flags & banners or event & promotional pages for further details on all that we do.
